Teaching kayaking, I always emphasize that the last move in any rapid is looking over your shoulder at the person behind you. Complacency, poor safety hazard and risk assessments, media/social media, and the quick learning curve and inexperience of newer paddlers all play into risk being higher on rivers although the hazards remain the same.

Who are Escape Watersports?
Escape Watersports was the result of many years working and playing within the watersports industry. We employ real people, who are able to call upon their experiences and provide the best advice possible.
Founded in 2011, our mission right from the off was to offer online customers the same high quality service that they had come to expect when visiting a traditional watersports shop in person.
Fast forward to 2018, we are supplying watersports enthusiasts all over Europe with their favourite clothing and equipment.
Our warehouses and showroom are located just a couple of miles from Porthcawl, on the South Wales coastline. We’re lucky to have the beach on our doorstep, as well as some of the UK’s best white water runs just round the corner. We work hard, but we play hard too!
A change of car has forced me to seek out a new set of roofbars. I wanted the best set of roof bars for my car without going silly on the cost. This time I have went for the Thule Wing bars (aka Aeroblades in the USA). I love cars that can have a set of roof bars bolted to them, either to fittings hidden within the roof or roof rails.
The new Unsponsored HQ paddle wagon/family transporter is a very sensible two litre 184bhp Skoda Octavia VRS estate. It has replaced the BMW 320d Touring shown in these images.
So am I still using these bars with the new car?
Way back in 2006 WRSI was a new company and we had one of the first Current helmets off the production line. At that time Unsponsored was looking at importing the WRSI Current into Europe but it was not going to be viable at the time. We used the WRSI Current for a couple of years on and off before moving to another brand.
Move forward 12 years and we have the WRSI Current Pro helmet in for review.
Ok, we are going for Saturdays’s for this. Let me know what you think. Worth continuing or not?
WRSI technology combines three-layer impact absorption, intentional outfitting design and a plush interior to deliver comfortable helmets that can take the hits. The multi-impact shell combined with an EVA foam liner and a polyurethane sub-shell effectively dissipate impacts.
Well here it is, the first Movie Monday of 2018. Welcome to Movie Monday 1 January 2018 at Unsponsored.

It’s a Christmas Day Movie Monday special at Unsponsored HQ. Welcome to Movie Monday 25 December 2017.

As you’re no doubt aware if you’re a regular paddle boarder, SUP is more demanding than many give it credit for. Sure, it’s relaxing as well, but at the end of the day it’s a physical exercise that demands a great deal of strength, balance, and focus. Because of this, we should treat it like other sports, which means (among other things) taking careful consideration of what we eat before setting out on the water. You can have perfectly good SUP sessions without worrying about nutrition – but if you’re looking for peak performance you might want to consider some of these foods and ingredients.
