The lost Gauley is the section of the Gauley that is usually under the Summersville lake. So, I guess every ten years or so the damn has to lower the lake to inspect or work on the dam damn. This is one of those years. Last weekend I was randomly invited to fire down this elusive stout. Veteran paddler Dave Bassage was leading the charge. The plan was to run the top Gauley through the lost Gauley and to the Summersville damn. This put us at around 20 miles on the water. Because of the difficulty of this stout, class 2-3, I decided the best craft for me would be the Badfish MVP 9. The shit runner of Stand Up boards.

Chile 2013 – Day One: Rio Palguin from Substantial Media House on Vimeo.

Pucon, Chile…known to be one of the greatest whitewater destinations of all time…Feeling right at home upon arrival we decided once again to go straight to the Palguin and get our huck on! The Rio Palguin serves up some of the most classic and biggest whitewater in the entire country…Wam Bam thank you MAM’ we had an awesome day and ran the entire river with only 3 portages. Scotland is well known for its waterfalls and steep creeking. Often over looked or less shouted about is the world class gorges it also has to offer. Filmed over the wet weekend of 19/20/21 October.
