One impression I seem to get about Norway is that it is rarely sunny, however since we have arrived in Sjoa the sun has been out constantly and its been 20+ degrees, score!
The past few days have been spent slowly making our way over towards Sjoa. Valldal turned out to be completely dry and even the low water runs were pretty empty so we made a quick getway from there.
Highlights would be the Bygdelva racecourse section although Sandra took a beat down and swim in a horrible slot like drop. Also the Upper Rauma, as well as the drive which has provided some amazing scenery.
The Made in Canada series from NRS and Five2Nine Productions takes you on a locals-only tour of classic Canadian whitewater kayaking runs. Made in Canada: The Teaser introduces Part 1 of the series, which focuses on three quintessential Quebec rivers, the Neilson, the Taureau and the Magpie.
Okay so Saturday was actually our last day in Voss after we decided to hang around so that Sandra could do the boater X race. We knew that with her big guns and river racing tekkers that she would have no problem claiming a few prizes. Unfortunately the sneaky organisers saw her coming and added an upstream gate into the mix and even after some nice words of encouragement from us on the bank, that went a bit like “Sandra thou art paddling shit, go faster” she failed to catch the eddy. However she did come 3rd winning a lovely towel. Jenny won though so all is good.

It’s been a long time since I have had a new Astral PFD.
There was something that I really didn’t like about the previous version. For me the fit was just not quite right, I know that lots of people really liked them but the design was not right for me. Roll on a few years and we have the 2013 Greenjacket.
We Be Charging is a film about whitewater kayaking in California. Most of the footage was captured during one of the biggest snowpack years in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains recorded history– 2011. We kayakers were in heaven, as our blessed rivers ran higher and longer than we had ever seen. One of my close friends, Dirk Bradford, who Charged many of the rivers you see in this video, passed away kayaking Indian Creek outside Quincy California this past March on his birthday. Dirk was an amazing person who always brought smiles to everyone around. And so, I would like to dedicate this video to him. If you feel inclined, there has been a fund set-up to help his daughter, Eleena, as she has to continue on without the help from her father, as he didn’t have a will in place. Take care out there and be safe when charging. Enjoy the movie!
