Norway – VEKO

Water levels here in Voss have been fairly consistent since we arrived. We’ve managed to get on most of the major runs now and maybe before we leave we may get on something new. We’re all hoping for some action on double drop but despite the grey skies the rain hasn’t really come and its still not running.

Norway Day 9 & 10

After the previous night of partying Saturday was a bit of a write off. We got up a bit late and then optimistically decided to head over to the Teigdal to see if double drop was running…..it wasn’t. We then drove to various other drops in the area only to find they we’re either too low or that our balls weren’t big enough. Phil and Barney eventually ran the bottom half of Lake to lake which they later admitted was more hastle than it was worth. That night we camped up next to the Teigdal in the hope that it would rain and we could get a run on it Sunday. Unfortunately it never rained.

The Big Paddle took place at Teesside today. Despite the changeable weather the turn out was superb.

Slave River Paddlefest Promo

The Slave River is one of the most amazing rivers in the world. Every year on August long weekend, the Fort Smith Paddling Club organizes Slave River Paddlefest, with a ton of events for paddlers of all ability levels. There is everything from a big air surf competition (The Edge King comp) to rolling clinics. Even for non-paddlers, there is a lot to experience, like watching the Beach Ball race, taking a ride in a raft or 2-person kayak, getting shots for the photography competition, or even just bringing the kids, relaxing, and swimming at the beaches in the warm waters of the Slave river. Norway Day 7 & 8

The past few days have been fairly warm here which would probably explain why the Upper Brandseth came in yesterday morning. We started the day by paddling that. Its definitely one of my favourite runs, with lots of steep fast slides. We were off by lunch time and spent the afternoon chilling in Voss with Rainey next to the lake and then at the pub.

Two Weeks In Italy – Week One

Not to sure how I actually ended up going on this trip, I think it was that I just asked Mark if he knew anyone going to Italy as I would like to go this year and he happened to be going so it went from there really…

Having knew Mark and Dave for a year I had only actually paddled with them a few times and never paddled with Russell and only met him a few week before our trip. I could tell this was going to be a good trip.

Norway – Day 6

Today has been a bit of a rest day. Phil and Barney had a run on the Lower Myrkdal and then Phil and myself paddled the Stranda. We visited Rainey at home who has stitches in his eyebrow and bruised muscles in his shoulder after yesterdays incident. He should be good to get back on the water some time next week.
