A great edit from Dale Mears. Dale uses the Contour ROAM3 and Joby action camera series to get his footage. Great to see the use of the more unusual shooting angles.

Joby have been releasing great accessories for action cameras (POV) for years now. The original GorillaPod being an outstanding product and now available in all sorts of sizes, colours, and materials to hold what ever you can throw at them or fit in with your fashion. Easy to carry, intuitive to use and outstanding performance. So what is Joby’s latest offering and how will it improve your game?
The Joby Suction Cup and Locking arm/GorillaPod arm is another suction cup to add to the current market, now I know there are quite a few knocking about, GoPro produce one, Contour produce one, you can also go on eBay and pick one up for reasonably cheap but like those annoying Sat Nav suction cups they fall off, or simply don’t have the suction to hold onto most surfaces.
The Handler is GoPro’s move into the hand held grip market for waterborne users. It is designed to perform a very similar role to the GoPole Grenade grip with the added bonus that the GoPro The Handler is designed to float (even when using a Bacpac).
Having owned at least one GoPro camera for what seems like and age. But despite this I have never owned a device used for taking “selfies”. Well that is until now. I have recently bought a GoPole Evo and have used a fair bit over the last few months.
I picked up a GoPole 66cm Evo pole a few weeks back and have been putting it through its paces.
For the last few years GoPro have updated their range of POV action cameras each and every autumn. 2014 is no exception with the release of the new GoPro 4. So the question is, go for the Hero 4 at full RRP or find one of the many bargains to be had on the Hero 3+. GoPro 4 Vs GoPro 3+ – which one to go for? Hopefully you get the information you need right here.

Now I am in the fortunate position of being able to get hold of newly released gear pretty quickly so have had a fair bit of time with the Hero 4 black edition as well as owning a Hero 3+ black edition for a year. My cameras spend most of their time hooked up to either a Sweet Strutter kayak helmet or the kayak itself.
The new GoPro 4 (released Oct 2014)and Hero 4 Session (released July 2015) are the latest incarnations of the GoPro Hero action POV camera.

The GoPro 4 POV action camera appears in a number of different guises including the Session, Silver edition (with built in LCD screen) and the industry leading 4K capable Black edition. No matter which GoPro you choose you need the best Micro SD card possible. At the end of the day it isn’t all about size, it’s all about speed.
The Hero 4 (including the Session), 3+ and 3 series will accept Micro SD cards up to a 64GB capacity. The new grey Hero camera will accept a card with a capacity up to 32GB.

Contour have recently announced the release of the new Contour Roam 3.

On the face of it little has changed. The major difference is what is going on inside. Roam have improved the level of seal protection, so the Contour Roam 3 is Roam’s first camera that doesn’t require an additional housing.
Over the last few months I have been testing out the latest Micro SD card from Lexar. The latest one is the Lexar 64GB 633x which has been living in my GoPro.
How about a light that complements your GoPro Hero 3 or 3+ and is waterproof up to 40m? Check out the GoPro In The Dark – Knog qudos Action from Knog.
