The end of the year inevitably brings the highlight reel. Some a great, others not so. But this one from Dave Fusilli is a corker.

A very nicely put together edit with some great kayaking action. Enjoy!
A nice little edit from Erin Savage.
Kenny wanted more ladies to compete in the King of New York race series. For better or worse, we showed up. Continue reading
I am a huge GoPro user, I have owned most types and always have a couple with my kayaking kit. Being able to bring tech into my paddling offers me the perfect combination of the kind of things I am into. I also spend a great deal of time watching home grown kayak movies on Vimeo and Youtube, many of which appear here on the site so I have a pretty good feel of what is possible and the impact that POV cameras have had on the sport.
Society is probably more media driven than it ever has been before and even the small section of society who kayak have been part of and are impacted upon by the rise of social media. Being able to view user driven and user published media where the end viewer has ultimately also become the media maker/publisher has many merits and has helped bring the sport to more people than it ever has done in the past. I have had a Sandmarc GoPro Pole on test for the last few weeks and follows hot on the heals of the GoPole Evo.
Follow some Quebec Connection boys as they shred down a sweet local run; the Aux Chiens river. Nothing huge but it’s a skatepark for kayakers! Many smooth money class IVs.
Suivez quelques boys de Quebec Connection alors qu’ils glissent à travers les rapides de la rivière Aux Chiens. Rien d’énorme, mais une bonne quantité de R-IV bien ‘money’! Continue reading
Superb drone work from Demshitz and an awesome feature.
About three weeks ago myself and Jared Seiler were invited to test the flow and features at the Holtwood kayak Park. We surfed the features at a variety of flows from 700cfs to about 1600cfs. A happy flow here at Holtwood is between 800-1100cfs. The top feature is a very fast wave. You have to be ready top fly on this feature, setting up can be a little tricky. The next feature is a fast wave hole and the last one is a perfect little V wave. Great shoulders on both sides, perfect for a good front surf or even an air blunt. Enjoy! Continue reading
Some quality beatdowns in this great edit from Leif Anderson.
In order to surf the Rockem Sockem wave on the Slave River, you have to surf through the penalty box. Here is some beautiful footage of the most epic penalties of this season. Continue reading
The Handler is GoPro’s move into the hand held grip market for waterborne users. It is designed to perform a very similar role to the GoPole Grenade grip with the added bonus that the GoPro The Handler is designed to float (even when using a Bacpac).
Having owned at least one GoPro camera for what seems like and age. But despite this I have never owned a device used for taking “selfies”. Well that is until now. I have recently bought a GoPole Evo and have used a fair bit over the last few months.
I picked up a GoPole 66cm Evo pole a few weeks back and have been putting it through its paces.
For the last few years GoPro have updated their range of POV action cameras each and every autumn. 2014 is no exception with the release of the new GoPro 4. So the question is, go for the Hero 4 at full RRP or find one of the many bargains to be had on the Hero 3+. GoPro 4 Vs GoPro 3+ – which one to go for? Hopefully you get the information you need right here.

Now I am in the fortunate position of being able to get hold of newly released gear pretty quickly so have had a fair bit of time with the Hero 4 black edition as well as owning a Hero 3+ black edition for a year. My cameras spend most of their time hooked up to either a Sweet Strutter kayak helmet or the kayak itself.
The new GoPro 4 (released Oct 2014)and Hero 4 Session (released July 2015) are the latest incarnations of the GoPro Hero action POV camera.

The GoPro 4 POV action camera appears in a number of different guises including the Session, Silver edition (with built in LCD screen) and the industry leading 4K capable Black edition. No matter which GoPro you choose you need the best Micro SD card possible. At the end of the day it isn’t all about size, it’s all about speed.
The Hero 4 (including the Session), 3+ and 3 series will accept Micro SD cards up to a 64GB capacity. The new grey Hero camera will accept a card with a capacity up to 32GB.
