Welcome to Movie Monday 18 December 2017 Unsponsored HQ. We love putting these things together each week. we took some time to look back over some of the first Movie Mondays from a few years ago and it’s great to see the number and quality of GoPro (and other camera) edits continue to grow. A great deal of outdoor equipment passes through the halls of Unsponsored HQ. Some great, some good and some not so good. As we get closer to the 25th of December it has now become a little bit of tradition (and to save me answering loads of “What should I get ….. for Christmas, they have just got into kayaking/canoeing/SUP?” type questions via email) to put together a list of gear for our Festive Gift Guide that paddlers and general outdoors type folk might appreciate as presents at Christmas time.
So here it is.
Rappelling Into Beautiful Waterfalls – A short video from a day out at the Truchas waterfalls, we had to rappel in to this set of drops which is one of the things I am most scared of. I am useless with ropes and knots and terrified of climbing.

Readers, we have all done – or should have done a WW safety course, either an in country one, Rescue 3 or similar. We learn about z drags and mechanical advantage. We should learn about steep ground assessments, we learn to portage, we learn our own boundaries.
It’s 1979 BG (Before GoPro). This is an old photo that Steve Muir managed to find. It shows a tv broadcast camera taped to the front of an Elite 77 slalom kayak to get some onboard whitewater footage.
After the best part of 20 years of existence the Playboater Titanium Earwig will no longer be produced. Sad times.
