PADDLEexpo 2020 Cancelled

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic there is an increased risk to health. In the foreseeable future, massive restrictions will continue to exist on:

  • travelling
  • border crossing
  • air travel
  • board and boat rental, tours, training, teaching
  • retail
  • sporting events, competitions, club activities.

The industry’s planning is long-term, the losses at early part of the season cannot be compensated for this year, even with the most optimistic view. Some suppliers have already announced that they will postpone the start of the new collection by one year. In addition, trade fairs or events including catering such as the PADDLEexpo “Industry Dinner” are not permitted at this time, changes in this respect cannot be foreseen at the moment.

Consequently, the PADDLEexpo will be dropped in the year 2020. Stay healthy and get through this difficult time successfully!

Kindest regards,

Horst Fürsattel (Show Manager)

What a day on Tummy! Sam Grafton, Ben Marr, and Ben Kinsella did the Tum-flush and ran everything. They are beasts and took some stage beatings and had epic lines!

Here are some shots of myself running the Wall, Dam, Chaos, and other easier rapids. What a river, bigger rapids than the Stikine and 5 mins from downtown Derr-town. Enjoy

Yak Horizon Drysuit – First Look

We have one of Yak’s newest pieces of dry wear in for review at Unsponsored.

This is the Yak Horizon Drysuit. Available only in red/black the Horizon is made from hard wearing 3-layer breathable material with Cordura re-enforcement on the knee and bum.

The drysuit comes equipped with a double neck seal. This is made up from a high quality inner latex gasket and then a neoprene outer gasket.

This has to be one of the best if not the best outer neck seals I have seen/used to date. The added section at the top of the standard cone shape makes a huge difference.

Timber Hole Raundalselva Beatering

Decided to fire up Timber Hole at high water with a huge group of people durning a memorial paddle for some beautiful late friends. I beatered pretty good, pulled off a fully arial pan-am in my Tuna, and missed a bunch of rolls when I flushed. 🙂

Ötztaler Ache – In Danger

Ötztaler Ache – In Danger

The Ötztaler Ache is the largest currently free-flowing river in the Tyrol region of Austria. It is home to a diverse riverine ecology, with bank side alpine meadows and is a mecca for white water kayakers from around the world.

This jewel of Austrian rivers, previously home to the Sickline Extreme Kayaking World Championships is now threatened by multiple hydro power developments.

Whilst most of Europe is on lockdown developers have started building the Tumpen-Habichen power plant without all the legal permissions or answering important legal questions.

Verus Kayaks – More Detail

Verus Kayaks have released more detail on their two new kayaks.

Verus Kayaks - More Detail
Verus Kayaks – More Detail

We are excited to announce the 2020 lineup from Verus Kayaks. These kayaks have been in the works for the last year and we are excited to bring you the Gladiator 2.0 and the Hellbender. Our goal with these kayaks is to play the river as much as possible and offer the most aggressive designs on the market today. We took the feedback we received from the original Gladiator and created a more playful stern and improved the outfitting. The Hellbender came from our love of slicey boating and the idea of creating a boat that will maximize fun on class III and IV rivers. We are stoked to get these boats to the people by June! Stay tuned as we will be announcing pre-orders in the coming weeks. You will be able reserve your boat in advance with custom color options!
