In Love With Frank is a superb edit from Seth Dahl. Idaho is a beautiful place and this video captures the beauty of the Salmon River and the surrounding area.
This was a passion project. A love story with a wild place that has impacted my life deeply. For nine guide seasons I’ve worked Idaho’s Middle Fork of the Salmon River, the emerald queen of multiday river trips. She cuts through a 2.5 million acre span of wild, roadless beauty called The Frank Church Wilderness. It is a rugged and raw country. For years I’ve floated by the Middle Fork’s many tributaries and wondered what kind of scenery is upstream. I’ve also thought about the springtime whitewater. This video is an exploration of Rapid River, Loon Creek and Camas Creek with three good friends. They discuss how this area has helped shape their life and how it will continue to.
NRS were well represented at Paddle Expo with a fairly sizeable stand. If you aren’t familiar with NRS stand by. They produce pretty much everything for paddle sports and now have a base in Europe. This will mean that we will be seeing a great deal more of their gear in the UK and across the rest of Europe.
Crush Watershoe:
We have had pair of the original Crush shoes here at Unsponsored HQ for quite some time and they are holding up well. For 2016 NRS has beefed up the cushioning within the insole, have toughened up the fabric around the toe/sides and have improved the traction offered by the rubber.
The Crux drysuit by Idaho based NRS is a front entry drysuit meaning that using the zip is far easier to do by yourself compared to a zip positioned on the rear of a suit.
This review looks at the new Mens NRS Crux. Thankfully for the female paddling population NRS also have a womens version with a drop seat for comfort breaks.
Continue readingOver the last few weeks the footwear of choice for all boating duties have been the NRS Velocity Boots. NRS have released both the Velocity and Crush watershoes for 2015. We have both types here at Unsponsored HQ.
The Velocity boots have seen a fair bit of water time. Here is what I think so far.
The new NRS Crush Watershoe landed at Unsponsored HQ a few weeks ago. Since then they have been used both off an on the water.
Over the last few years we have seen a huge increase in the fort being put into the paddlesport footwear market. My favourite Idaho based company NRS have developed two new shoes for the 2015 market – Crush and Velocity. Continue reading
LVM (Lunch Video Magazine) was a superb outfit of paddlers publishing DVDs showing paddling exploits from around the world. Sadly LVM stopped producing videos back in 2011 or there abouts. I found this little excerpt on Vimeo in John Weld’s (Immersion Research) video library.

A great video from Clay Lucas. Idaho has some of the best whitewater in the world.
North Fork of the Payette from Clay Lucas on Vimeo.
On my way out to the PNW I had the opportunity to stop and run the infamous North Fork of the Payette in Banks, Idaho with locals Michael Thurmond and James Byrd. Quick little edit of a stellar day of classic Idaho whitewater!
