I love watching videos that have a good dose of adventure and Bike2Boat Alps has stacks of adventure. The team made up of Olaf Obsommer, Jens Klatt, Adrian Mattern and Bren Orton travel 750km distance and 8000m of climbing with their paddling gear moving from river to river by bike. By removing the need for motorised transport the guys manage to complete the adventure with a low ecological impact.
Carrying some much kit on a trailer towed behind a bike with cooked brakes makes for some scary/comedic downhill action.
We are super excited to announce we are the title sponsor of Europe’s premier whitewater festival: King of The Alps.
Located in Merano in the Passeiertal Valley in Italy this beautiful area offers an abundance of outdoor opportunities and is especially known for its beautiful scenery and amazing whitewater. We specifically choose to be a part of this event because of its inclusiveness. It truly is a well-rounded event that all paddlers and families can appreciate and enjoy. There are a number of Class 2, 3, 4 and 5 whitewater sections that can challenge any paddlers ability, and there are rafting options for any non-paddlers that want to attend! After doing some paddling of your own you can then watch or take part in a number of different races including the extreme Europen Championship race. All the race courses are easily visible as the river runs right through town! You can sit back and enjoy the action, and watch the top paddlers in the world try to claim the title of King and Queen of the Alps or attempt to take the crown yourself!
A gathering of paddlers from all over Europe to party, paddle the steep creeks of Northern Italy and race the Alpine Sprint of the Sesia River. Hosted by Gene17kayaking and il Gatto e la Volpe in the picturesque town of Campertogno. Be sure not to miss it next May!
We started our summer kayak trip in Lienz Austria, then we went to Riva falls (Italy), then Switzerland. But we were really lucky that we had a lot of rain, and the river Sorba had enough water for the Devil slide in the beginning of August!
Playing on Sorba slides, Italy. Was messing around as it was our 3rd time down, went with a cross-deck boof, missed the boof stroke unfortunately and pencilled it and then went round a few times before getting spat out. Playboating skills coming into play a bit here.
The Dragorossi 88 is the newest creek boat from the Italian kayak company. On first seeing the 88 I was quite impressed with its overall looks – it simply looks right! So I was very excited to get the boat on onto a number of local grade IV rivers.
Not to sure how I actually ended up going on this trip, I think it was that I just asked Mark if he knew anyone going to Italy as I would like to go this year and he happened to be going so it went from there really…
Having knew Mark and Dave for a year I had only actually paddled with them a few times and never paddled with Russell and only met him a few week before our trip. I could tell this was going to be a good trip.
