Scouting the leven in tasty flows!
Location: Ambleside, Cumbria
YO! Originally from Limerick Ireland, now living, studying and paddling in the Lake District. I started paddling with the scouts when I was 16 and was hooked immediately. I learnt to paddle mainly in Ireland with a few welsh trips thrown in along the way. I realised paddling is the lifestyle for me and after and an Italian and Slovenian trip in the summer of 2014. I have been looking to paddle bigger water since then.
Stylish plug on landwasser Italy, the pros always plug right?
Kit:
Helmet – Sweet Protection Wanderer
BA – Palm Extrem
Cag – Old blue Yak (haven’t got a clue about the name) not very dry. But they make us tough in the Emerald Isle.
Drypants – Palm
Thermals – billabong ski thermals and a decathlon fleece bought for a tenner and is one of the best thermals I’ve owned. Get yourself one.
Shoes – Karrimor running shoes (not the greatest for grip but do the job).
Boat – Liquid logic Jefe Grande (LOVE IT!!!).
Paddles – Old AT cranks (old but solid ☺)
My kit is battered and old, but I love it. You don’t need all the latest kit to get out there and have fun so whats stopping you!?
Boofing a ledge on the gorge section of the Sermenza.
Up and coming plans:
Going to start working towards my level 5 skills and potentially some instructor awards, away from awards im just looking to get out on the water as much as possible and enjoy the sport I love. Might throw in a few races along the way like the Morriston. University wise im studying outdoor studies so I get to enjoy the outdoors in a variety of ways, and get to head out climbing, biking or kayaking about 3 to 4 times a week so life is pretty sweet right now.
Booty beers with ULKC.
