Since making a move to a new Nikon Camera five years ago I have been using Black Rapid camera straps. The strap of choice to date has been the RS Sport 2 camera strap. The strap is designed to be worn across the body and allows the camera to be carried to the side yet be easily brought up to the eye to take photos. The big advantage of such a system is that the shoulders take the weight of camera gear rather than the neck. I have found this to be a really critical factor when I have been taking photos at an all day event.
The RS Sport 2 has performed faultlessly over the last few years. The Sport strap has been recently updated with a new profile and new materials therefore we have just made the switch to the new Sport Breathe.
We are big fans of rand decks at Unsponsored HQ. We have, in the past, gone to extreme measures to ensure that really good rand decks live on to fight another day.
It was therefore superb that we heard that Palm Equipment were going to bring out a brand new rand based deck. The Palm Orbit is a new take on a favourite and we are looking forward to trying this out over the next few months. Lets take a tour in the Palm Orbit – First Look.
The Petzl eLITE is an ultralight and compact head torch designed for emergency use. I have had one of the 1st generation units for years.
We have a couple of Key Smart key storage gizmos in for test here at Unsponsored HQ. They are really neat and work well. They’ve been used for the last few weeks and as they are storing my house keys they have been used in anger a couple of times each day.
The new GoPro Hero 4 Session landed at Unsponsored HQ today. The Session is GoPro’s latest POV action camera and the first to break away from what has been a fairly standard GoPro cuboid shape.
This week a freshly wrapped Ace of Spades kayak from Spade Kayaks arrived from Austria via UK distributers System X.
A big thanks to Kev at Northshore Watersports for handling the delivery.
There has been a few pieces of information about the Ace of Spades, including posts on this site, but there hasn’t been much in the way of detailed images. Hopefully this post will help to put this right.
The Ace of Spades is a blown moulded displacement hull kayak. It has the features that you would expect to see in any whitewater boat – adjustable outfitting, full plate footrest, multiple grab handles, drain bung etc… but many have been executed in a creative way.
The Palm Equipment Fuse jacket has had an upgrade for 2015. The jacket is constructed from a new light weight three layer fabric and the Glideskin neoprene neck gasket has also been improved. Gone are the harlequin colours of 2014 and in is a very smart Jet grey colour scheme with aqua detailing.
The Fuse jacket is a fairly light weight number and from the couch test has excellent freedom of movement.

As yet I haven’t seen any Titan designs in the flesh but would certainly like to try a couple of the boats out. Below is a video from Titan showing the Reactor Outfitting system.
