We haven’t updated our GoPro comparison chart for some time due to the original spreadsheet being lost somewhere within the Unsponsored archives. So last night I typed the 2015 chart back into excel and have added details for the Hero (2018), Hero6, Hero5, and Hero5 Session.
I’ve been looking at the range of GoPro accessories I currently have to assess whether or not I would buy them again. Here is a very quick run down of the “Keepers” and the “Binned”. There has been fair bit of trial and error over the last few years but I think that I have narrowed things down to kit that works and is actually worth getting.
Most accessories will work with the entire GoPro range.

Another day with Max Eberl and Thomas Engels in Austria.
8 wonderful runs on the Lammer gorge at ~ 70cm – nice river, sweet weather & a quick, super boat !
For the last run, we only needed 6min 29sec.
Thanks !
I’ve been following the Quebec Connection for some time. The video work they have been publishing is superb. Here is their recap of the 2013 season.
On our own – 2013 season recap from Quebec Connection on Vimeo.
2013 has been an incredible season for us. We had a LOT of fun on & off the river. A lot of ideas / projects were concretized and we just kept doing what we love. So, here is our annual season wrap up. Hope you’ll enjoy it and learn to know us a bit better! Wish you all a memorable and stout 2014 season and see ya’ll here in spring! Woooop!
Brunton are probably best known for their innovative battery charging technology but have now brought out some GoPro related kit. Brunton have brought out the All Day for GoPro Hero 3/3+ use. It fits the Hero 3 housing and replaces the full back door.

As the leaves begin to yellow and fall sets in, the rivers begin to dry here in the northwest. As our thoughts begin to travel around the world thinking of warm paddling destinations we wait for one gem in British Columbia to drop to the perfect level- Dipper Creek. A magnificent crack in the Earth located in the Squamish valley, Dipper Creek is stacked with two days of incredible whitewater, waterfalls and tight canyon walls that loom hundreds of feet above the water.
The GoPro Hero 3 and newer 3 Plus both use the same size batteries and are therefore fully compatible. The older battery is a 3.7V 1050mAh battery and the newer version has slightly more capacity at 3.7V 1180mAh. This ultimately gets more filming time.
Quadrocopters and Hexacopters seem to be finding their way into the kayaking world. At a couple of hundred pounds (£) for a quadrocopter that is capable of aerial photography I think 2014 will see more and more of these things flying around our rivers.
Here is a great video of Marsh weir from Altitude 8.
