Enjoy!
Continue readingBefore 2014, I’d only seen a Pyranha Spanish Fly and a Big Dog OC1 on the rivers around Scotland. They looked weird and I didn’t like the idea of swamping and kneeling when I could have a comfy kayak seat and a spraydeck. After stumbling across a group of OC1ers in Glen Etive one New Year’s Eve, I really had my eyes opened to the C-boat world, albeit a rather mad one! After enjoying open canoeing for the past few years and becoming impartial to the single blade, I’ve recently decided to take the plunge with a Silverbirch Covert 9.3.
This is what I think of it so far…
Roadtripping : To Washington I go
Having the chance to travel and see different rivers is Amazing. This April I had the chance to head down to the bottom of Washington to hit up the Northwest Creeking Comp. I also jumped around a bit and hit up some of the local creeks and rivers. This is the good and the bad of this wonderful trip.
Nowhere To Land is a short clip from the guys at Wookscat showing the most intimidating of the drops on the Pigeon Dries in Western NC. It is well worth the watch. Enjoy!
Gauley River Goods is a superb edit from Fall Line Canoes showing just some of the action from last weekends Gauley River Festival.
A little bit of Friday and Saturday on the Upper Gauley during Gauley Fest 2015.
The first mould of the new Silverbirch Covert OC1 has taken place. There are some really nice graphics integrated into this process.
Some serious stout running in an OC1.
Downtown Gnar, in the heart of Greenville, SC.
Silverbirch Canoes, right here in the UK are getting ready to put the new Broadland and Covert canoes out into retail stores.
The edit below shows the OC1 Covert in action on the Tryweryn. It looks like a great hull and its also great to see some bright colours being used rather than the usual red or drab green.
Canoeing doesn’t mean beards and long flat water journeys, it is so much more. Many thanks to Matthew Pritchard for sharing this great OC1 edit from Scotland last year which just shows what it can be about.
I think we need more Canoeing on Unsponsored.
This edit from KrazyCBoater shows some great canoe action on the Green River.
