The Shuck helmet from Palm Equipment is now available. I got to try on a 3d printed prototype a few years ago and am looking forward to trying the real thing.
Designed for use with kayak/canoes with high backrests the Palm Equipment Meander Highback PFD looks very different to the PFDs we normally see.
This beauty is the custom Dagger RPM created by Dagger UK/Palm Equipment for the 2018 National Student Rodeo. Due to severe weather conditions in the UK the event had to be cancelled. So this kayak is up for grabs.
I’ve been using the small Palm Equipment Lightning throwline as my small carry on a belt throwline. The compact size of the bag makes it ideal for this purpose. To achieve this size, it only uses 18m of 8mm rope with a 8KN breaking strain.
In addition to a small bag I also like to have a larger burlier throwline in the boat. This is where the new Bolt throwline comes into to play. The Bolt takes many of the features of the Lightning and scales thing up. As a result it includes 20m of 11mm rope with a breaking strain of 10KN. This is strong enough to use as a haul line, but is still light enough for person to person rescues. The rope is really nice to handle even when under considerable load. A nice touch is that the two ends of the rope have been shrink wrapped.

I’ve been back in England for a few weeks now resting up after a recent crash. I was finally starting to feel better so I called up one of my best mates and my old boss, Rob Harris and we went to the River Dart, the levels where so low but that didn’t stop us from having a great time! It felt just like old times, bunking off work, going kayaking and taking the piss out of each other… it was so much fun!

The Dagger Mamba is a firm favourite here at Unsponsored HQ and for 2018 Dagger Europe are launching the Dagger Mamba Action. This is the same Dagger Mamba shell with the Action Spec outfitting. This lightens the overall package up nicely whilst maintaining loads of adjustability.
After a few years in development Palm Equipment has revealed the Shuck helmet. I tried out a 3d printed Shuck almost two years ago but was sworn to secrecy. It took a few days to print!
Earlier this month, to mark International Day of Action for Rivers, Palm Equipment announced their contribution to the Free Rivers Fund, who will receive an annual donation of 1% of Palm’s profit on all Whitewater PFD sales.
