Episode 3 of Notorious Media Tent. Watch as Notorious members Knox and Joaquin as they journey down into the depths of Colombia.
A few weeks ago myself and a group of friends were kayaking in Scotland on our annual easter trip with Salford University. We were having a great time, kayaking some really beautiful Scottish white water.
On Easter Sunday we hatched an ambitious plan to hit 4 runs in one day and make the most of the water levels before they dropped because of sunshine. The first order of business was a 30 foot waterfall near Loch Lomond in Stirling called the Falls of Falloch. This waterfall is famous with kayakers as being a very friendly waterfall to run and practice on.
After checking it out we were all happy and we got kitted up and psyched up for what would have been the biggest drop any of us would have done. My friend dropped the falls first and did it perfectly, after seeing him do it I geared up to paddle this beautiful drop. I hit the line and tucked for the impact at the bottom, unfortunately once I plunged into the pool at the bottom I knew immediately something was wrong. My landing was slightly horizontal, my back was in agony and I couldnt move.

Unsponsored’s little brother River has been very quiet of late. It turns out he has been working on a little winter edit focussing on his love of his Liquidlogic Stinger kayak. In Longboats For Life – Local Length, River takes us on a journey through the joy of owning and paddling a big boat, they aren’t just for flat water touring you know!
Garmin have announced the release of a new range of Virb cameras for 2015 – The Virb X and top of the line Virb XE. The form factor is much smaller than the previous Virb editions and is more in keeping with the GoPro design. It also looks like the cameras can be mounted to GoPro QR mounts which ones up a whole load of possibilities.
Following edit is filmed using the Virb XE.
Over the course of the last few weeks I have welded up a Dagger Mamba (twice – two different splits). The last split was located in the centre of the kayak right underneath the seat.
To get a good weld both inside and out I removed the seat. Given the size of the unit I thought that it would be a fairly difficult exercise but it turned out to be very easy.
The back band was removed so that access was a little easier, then all bolts were removed. Four were located on the seat posts and the fifth on the central pillar/storage area. The seat was then lifted and twisted straight out.
I took a few images of the Dagger Contour outfitting along the way and thought a close up of the seat out of the boat may be of interest to some. So here they are!
Continue readingThe Putumayo region, in southern Colombia, is full of rivers. This April 2015, we finally made a trip there. For the first pass, we decided to settle base in the town of Mocoa, strategically located near easy access rivers.
The throwbag/bottle holder within kayaks has become a fairly standard feature. However some are better than others Damon (Chalky723) has modified his Waka Tuna with a throwbag holder modification to create a system similar to that used by Dagger and Wavesport.
Dale Mears shows just what can be achieved when you have a great paddler like Jack Gunter at HPP and the new Joby Action Jib. Filmed using the Contour Roam 3.
Whitewater canoeing is superb and in Boof Sisters – Alf Try 2 it really does show it. Check out this great edit.
