Savage Slaughter

Savage Slaughter

From Will Lyons:

On a whim, my friends Erin and Jordan decided to go run Punchbowl Falls on Eagle Creek, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Nicole, Toby, and Ali provided moral support. I grabbed my camera to prove it actually happened. Here’s the story of what went down.

National Student Rodeo – Rescue Crew 2016

The NSR would not be possible if it were not for the crazy boys and girls of the rescue crew who are prepared to jump into the cold water repeatedly over the course of the weekend.

I also enjoy capturing them in action.

Welshcakes And A Kermit Green Canoe

Until recently, I didn’t realise how much South Wales could offer in terms of open canoeing day trips. I’d heard of the classic Wye tours but did not realise just how much there is to paddle there: From meandering grade 1 to technical grade 3, something for everyone! I had the opportunity to spend some time down there and between walking and caving, I managed to borrow a subtle lime green canoe and sample some of many stretches of Welsh goodness.

National Student Rodeo – Old School Comp 2016

The biggest spectacle each year at the National Student Rodeo is the Old School competition for those who are no longer students! This year was no exception.

Fairy Glen #Savetheconwy

Fairy Glen #Savetheconwy from Zak Dunnings shows just how spectacular this section of the river is. Zak has used a GoPro Hero 4 Session (see my review) to film this edit.

Fairy Glen #Savetheconwy

A beautiful day on a beautiful river but this might not be the case for much longer as its under threat from becoming the site of a massive hydro project. To find out more information and how you could help stop this harmful project, please visit savetheconwy.com/

Wairoa Extreme Race 2016

A great event and a great edit from the 2016 Wairoa extreme race.

Wairoa Extreme Race 2016

Every year on the Wairoa River out of Tauranga the kayaking community gathers for one of New Zealand’s best extreme kayak races. The head to head is an exciting race format where racers are seeded against each other till one athlete is crowned the winner. This year saw Jen Chrimes beat Toni George in the womens final and Jamie Sutton take down Kenny Mutton for the mens title.

Check out this highlights video for action from the race.

Wet And Wild Wales

A friend of mine and I were discussing paddling in Wales last Sunday. He described it as the best best place in world to paddle. Given that he has paddled the world over that is not a throw away statement.

Wet And Wild Wales

This edit from Luke Farmer gives just a small glimpse of what Wet And Wild Wales has to offer the whitewater paddler.

Vertical Element Custom Pole Trial

Last year we had a custom carbon pole made by our friends over at Vertical Element Paddles. Essentially we wanted a light weight and adjustable camera boom that would work with the GoPro range of cameras. VE came up with the goods.

River Tees – Low Force

Team Unsponsored had a few hours at Low Force on the River Tees today. As ROHO were having a demo day there was a very good chance that there would be a good number of boaters.

River Tees - Low Force

I’ve been working on trying to take photos and not having to crop, or adjust the image in any kind of way. I’ve also been trying frame some of the shots in a slightly different way. I’m quite pleased with the way in which these have turned out.

Bhutan – Paddlers Paradise

Bhutan – Paddlers Paradise. Tucked away in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan sits as a unique paddlers destination. The isolated, culturally unique, country offers pristine rivers to explore. Lets not forget the amazing culture and hospitality that
is above and beyond.

Bhutan - Paddlers Paradise

Within the Kingdom, a half days drive from the capital Thimpu, you will find Punakha.

Although the capital until 1955 Punaka is now the adventure centre. Located at an elevation of 1,200 metres above sea level its river valleys of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu frame the impressive Punakha Dzong.
