A change of car has forced me to seek out a new set of roofbars. I wanted the best set of roof bars for my car without going silly on the cost. This time I have went for the Thule Wing bars (aka Aeroblades in the USA). I love cars that can have a set of roof bars bolted to them, either to fittings hidden within the roof or roof rails.
The new Unsponsored HQ paddle wagon/family transporter is a very sensible two litre 184bhp Skoda Octavia VRS estate. It has replaced the BMW 320d Touring shown in these images.
So am I still using these bars with the new car?
Sam Elliott from Shields Paddling Company was over at Paddle Expo 2017 this week checking out some of the great new Dagger kit for 2018.
Sam has hooked Unsponsored up with information and images from the trade fair. First up is Dagger Kayaks 2018.
Believe it or not the Sweet Protection Strutter helmet has been around for 20 years, and 2017 marks the 20th anniversary. The Strutter was first made in 1997, that is even before Sweet protection actually existed. We’ve had at least one of the Strutter models at Unsponsored HQ from the very start.
To celebrate 20 years Sweet have released a couple of limited edition models of the Strutter. Both helmets are based around the latest iteration of the Strutter which was released in 2012. Since its first release the Strutter has significantly evolved.
The Palm Zenith Dry top is a midweight whitewater jacket with a comfy GlideSkin neck (no latex)‚ made in XP 2.5-layer fabric. We’ve had the short sleeve version at Unsponsored HQ for some time and it’s our go to summer jacket. The long sleeve version shown landed last week, so we thought we would take a closer look.
As you would expect the long sleeve Zenith Dry top is very similar in both fabric, cut and freedom of movement.
The Palm Zenith is available in a mens and ladies version. The Palm Zenith shown here is the mens version.
I managed to have a closer look at the Broadland and Covert canoes a couple of weeks ago. Both designs look really well thought out and have been very well made.
Silverbirch canoes are made by the guys behind Tootega and are therefore designed and built right here in the UK. They currently have two canoe models in the range, The Broadland and the Covert 9.3 OC1.
The Broadland is constructed from either Duracore or Duralite three-layer polyethylene.
The first mould of the new Silverbirch Covert OC1 has taken place. There are some really nice graphics integrated into this process.
