Virginia Tech have released the 2022 test results of 24 whitewater helmets using the STAR evaluation system.
The helmets were tested on their ability to:
- reduce linear acceleration
- reduce rotational acceleration
and thus reduce the chance of concussion.
The results are very interesting.

A lower score indicates better performance and a higher star rating.
Some of the helmets that have been advertised as being pretty safe haven’t faired very well.

Sweet Protection come out pretty well other than the Strutter. WRSI not so well.
