We love the Lightning throw bag from Palm Equipment and got a the heads up that the older bags were ready to to redesigned earlier this year. So we are really glad to see that we know have the 20m 11mm Palm Equipment Bolt throw bag in the line up for 2017.

Palm equipment are launching a fair new pieces of gear at PaddleExpo this year. This includes some new neoflex and safety gear. Get a sneak peak with Cheesy.
Can you spot the new throw bag?
We will have our hands on a new Palm Equipment Lightning throwbag very shortly and will be forcing members of Team Unsponsored to swim to try it out. We had close look a few weeks ago at Palm HQ and it is clear that they are going to be very popular.
The new Glide PFD from Palm Equipment is designed for those watersport users who don’t want to wear a conventional PFD on calmer waters.
I am a big fan of the colour coded straps from Palm Equipment. Palm have upgraded the system for 2016 by incorporating a rubber cover onto the metal buckle.
The three colour codes still remain:
Red = 3.5m
Blue = 4.5m
Yellow = 5.5m
There were a few different option for breakdown paddle joints at Paddle Expo last weekend. Unsponsored took a brief look at each.
First up is from Palm Equipment.
Palm have significantly updated their line of drysuits for 2016. Fabric is tougher and the velcro flaps used to cover zips have been completely removed.
The cut has been improved with less panels and as a result less seams.
Another new Palm Equipment product in for review at Unsponsored HQ. This is the new Palm folding knife.
The image below shows the Palm Folding knife with a Spyderco UK Penknife (Orange FRN), and Spyderco Ladybug.
Last year Palm Equipment launched the new Snake Sling.
The Palm Snake Sling is a 4m length of tape with sewn ends allowing the sling to be used in various different ways when you add a carabiner into the mix. What I really like is the fact that the sewn loops have been created in such a way that it is super easy to get a karabiner in/out of without high risk of snagging. I have a number of pieces of climbing kit with this setup and know that it works really well.

Location: I split my time between Somerset and Voss, Norway
I have been paddling for the last 11 years and during that time, I have been lucky enough to paddle in some of the coolest locations around the world from the UK to Chile, France, India and New Zealand. My personal favorite and the place that constantly draws me back is Norway. It’s a land full of amazing rivers with still so much undiscovered potential. For the last 5 years I have spent my life working as a raft guide which allowed me to be closer to the river and to get as much boating in as possible. I also have the pleasure of being supported by some of the best companies on the market: Zet UK, AS watersports, System X and Silverstick.

Origin Story:
I first started paddling when I was 10, in Newport, South Wales.
I kind of fell out of love with the sport for a bit, until I went to University in 2012, and joined Manchester University Canoe Club. Since then, I’ve rapidly grown from a full time student into a full time kayaker. I try and get away to a river every weekend, and sometimes I succeed.

Boat: Liquidlogic Remix 79
I’ve paddled the Remix for a year now and have loved every minute. It’s super long with a narrow hull so it accelerates quickly and maintains speed. It’s got soft edges so it’s really forgiving but at the same time carves into tight eddy’s and into strong currents with ease. The Remix doesn’t have masses of rocker so boofing can require a little more effort but if the boat is being driven it cruises over everything. What’s unique and cool about it is the scoop on the tail, if dipped in the green whilst punching a big hole, it will give you a boost and accelerate away from the feature. Also the LL Badass outfitting if fantastic, super easy to adjust and super comfy without adding too much weight.
