Should I Buy A GoPro Hero 4 Session

There are a great number of POV action cameras out there to choose from. Even GoPro themselves have a bewildering array of options. So you may be asking yourself – Should I Buy A GoPro Hero 4 Session. If you are then this post will hopefully help.

The new GoPro Hero 4 Session landed at Unsponsored HQ almost a year ago. It has seen plenty of regular use (more than my GoPro Hero 4 Black edition). The Session is GoPro’s latest POV action camera and the first to break away from what has been a fairly standard GoPro cuboid shape.

When I purchased the Session the RRP was well over £300. For what it is £300 is too much. However the RRP is now £159 which I think represents good value for money. Read on to find out more.

Accessories For The GoPro Hero 4 Session

I’ve been looking at the range of GoPro accessories I currently have and have been using successfully with the GoPro Hero 4 Session. I have been using the GoPro range since the Hero 2 so there has been fair bit of trial and error over the years but I think that I have narrowed things down to kit that works and is actually worth getting and for the Session it has been narrowed down even further.

Accessories For The GoPro Hero 4 Session

Now to be fair there isn’t a great of GoPro issue gear that only works with the Session as its battery is fixed, it doesn’t need a case etc. Most accessories will work with the entire GoPro range.

Responsible Drone Flying

Drones are becoming a lot more popular these days. With many adventure sports participants looking for more creative ways to document their adventures, there isn’t much that can come close to the sorts of epic aerial shots that were once the preserve of large budget feature films or broadcast documentaries.

Responsible Drone Flying

However as anyone who watches the news will know, drones are coming under ever more scrutiny by the authorities. Worse still is that many people who buy these aircraft are unaware that there are laws governing their use.

I should say at this point that I do apologise if this article comes off sounding like a stern Government information film from the 1970s! However I hope that it will give readers more insight into these aspects of drone use and its relevance to kayaking!

Nikon AW110 – Review

The Nikon AW110 has been my main on the water camera for the last few years. Many of the images on the site have been taken with this camera or a Nikon DSLR (D5100 or D7100). I had previously used a Sony TX10 with great success but it was getting a little long in the tooth and technology had moved on.

The Nikon AW110 is now around 3 years old and things have moved on with Nikon releasing the AW130 a few months back. However after using the AW110 for so long and the price reducing so significantly I thought many readers of Unsponsored would be keen to find out more about this rugged point and shoot camera.

He Lost His Drone And GoPro

A few years ago Geoff Otto lost his DJI Phantom Quadcopter and attached GoPro Hero 3 Black edition.

He Lost His Drone And GoPro

The drone And GoPro were lost to the murky depths of the Tees Barrage International Whitewater Course here in the UK. The course takes water directly from the river Tees before returning the water below the barrage and back into the tidal section of the river.

The BBC have carried out some research into the possibility helmet failure due to the use of a helmet cam such as a GoPro (other POV action cameras are available) during impact.

The research is well worth a read.

GoPro Hero 4 Session – Review

The new GoPro Hero 4 Session landed at Unsponsored HQ almost six months ago. After pretty regular use (more than my GoPro Hero 4 Black edition) it is now time to review. The Session is GoPro’s latest POV action camera and the first to break away from what has been a fairly standard GoPro cuboid shape.

When I purchased the Session the RRP was well over £300. We’ve had a fair bit of time with the camera so it is now time for the GoPro Hero 4 Session – Review.

Within this review I have mixed in some screenshots taken from some 1080p footage filmed with the Session 4 on a very overcast and challenging light condition kind of day.

The Right And The Wrong – GoPro

The GoPro series of cameras are superb, they are small, robust and not too expensive. It is now so easy to knock together a short video of your paddling and share it with the world. Anyone can do it and quite alot do. That is where the problem starts. It is really easy to get a video that looks like all the other kayaking videos that end up on Youtube, Vimeo and Facebook early each week or even worse end up with compromised footage that cannot be used.

The Right And The Wrong - GoPro

Although we are big GoPro fans here at Unsponsored HQ the principles that follow will also work very well with the Contour, Drift and all other action cameras.
