One of my pet hates is folk who do not wear their helmets correctly. That goes for cyclists, climbers, paddlers, whoever. The main purpose of any helmet is to prevent the wearer being severly injured if they hit their head. Helmets and fit is an important concept.

A couple of new colours in the superb Sweet Strutter helmet.
The Riot helmet is no longer produced and has been quite difficult to get hold of. They came in two varieties the R1 and R2. Shell sizes are standard with the amount of inner foam being the deciding factor on size.
I receive a couple of emails each day asking about the GoPro setup that I currently have running, so here is an update.
I use both a GoPro Hero 3 Silver and Black editions, but I actually prefer the silver! Both have there firmware updated every time there is a new release. Continue reading

The Sweet Rocker is back for 2013 with what looks like a tweaked Occigrip QR (red in image) and baby blue/orange colour scheme.
The following images were taken yesterday with a GoPro Hero 3 – Black edition. Micro SD card is a 64GB Sandisk. Image quality set at 12MP and spot metering was switched on. Images taken every second! Continue reading
I have been using a Sweet Strutter on and off for the past 10 years. The Strutter is a M/L and fits great and I have on occasion tried on M/L Rockers when in a kayak store but have always found them a little bit too snug. Last year I tried on the new “plastic” Rocker in L/XL and bought it. The best helmet will always be the one that offers you the best protection and fit.
The new Rocker is made from a plastic outer with carbon fibre re-enforment at key points. The padding is similar to that found in bicycle helmets and is covered with a lightly padded fabric cover. Self adhesive shims are supplied with the rocker so you can customise the fit. Continue reading

Go to any event or any other large gathering of paddlers and you’ll be guaranteed to spot loads of folk wearing a Shred Ready standard. There are a number of good reasons for this.
My Gopro Hero 3 Black edition arrived in the UK a couple of weeks ago. The form factor will be familiar to all who have seen or already own the white or silver editions.
Looking at the different cameras (I have silver and black editions) the “3” within Hero3 is coloured to match the cameras edition. That is the Black edition 3 is black and the Silver Editions 3 is silver etc. But what really makes the white, silver and black editions different to one another is what goes on inside.
