Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel – Review

Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel - Review

The Squirrel is Liquidlogic’s latest white water kayak and the second designed through the company’s Automatic For The People initiative. Demand for a boat similar to Liquidlogic’s successful Remix but with additional bow rocker and volume in addition to an overall increase in volume was high. In fact Liquid Logic used the original Remix model as the starting point for the Flying Squirrel and built in many of the features that both team members and Liquid Logic fans had been calling for.

I have been lucky enough to get hold of one of the first Squirrels to land here in the UK and have been paddling Squirrel each week over the last couple of months. Over the years I have owned a number of Liquidlogic boats including – Vision, Ronin, Biscuit, and Stomper, so I was very interested to give this new #automaticforthepeople kayak a try.

Ben Marr and LP Rivest Beatdown At Bridge Rapid

Huge water! An epic little run.

Screen Shot 2014-11-21 at 19.40.15

Here’s Ben Marr and myself going down bridge rapid in Dolbeau-Mistassini. It was my 3rd descent. The water was very high and the line juicy and technical. We got both destroyed in different holes… The sunset was epic, especially from the hole perspective! It was a dream to run it at that flow (1300cumecs), we were aiming for 2300 but we missed the window… can’t wait for spring 2015… Continue reading

Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel 85 – First Impressions

Review by: Kirstie Macmillan

At 8’9″ (266cm), the Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel 85 is much longer than my current creek boat, a Wavesport Recon 70. Despite the Squirrel’s sporty length, it is surprisingly light and doesn’t feel like you are paddling a barge!

Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel 95 Vs Wavesport Recon 93

unsponsored_squirrel (10)

Over the last few weeks there has been a great deal of interest in my thoughts on the Flying Squirrel versus the Recon. I have a review underway at the moment and will be publishing it after a little bit more time on the water with the Squirrel. In the meantime here are a few very initial thoughts, comparisons and specs.

A shiny new Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel is on its way to Unsponsored HQ as I type this. In the meantime Kev from Northshore Watersports here in the UK hooked me up with one of his two demo Squirrels (Kev has both the 85 and 95 on demo).

Liquid Logic Remix – Review

The Remix is LiquidLogics displacement hull river runner. The boat has a strong following across the globe but you don’t see very many of them here in the UK. I managed to get a loan of a Remix 79 for a few weeks and spent a number of days on the water in various conditions and locations.

Liquid Logic Stomper Review

I have owned the Stomper 90 for over 6 months and now seems like a good time for an initial review.

Having been in small play boats for so long meant that getting into the stomper felt like I had bought the Ark Royal and not a kayak. That said, on the water it does not have the bad characteristics of a big boat, for example slow to turn, slow to paddle etc. It is infact very manoeuvrable.

Liquid Logic Pocket Rocket – Review

At 6ft 2in I can’t fit into the pocket rocket! So this review comes from thoughts gleened from AG. The Pocket Rocket has that now very familiar Liquid Logic look and is the smallest of the new range that incudes the Air Head and Space Cadet.
