Garmin have announced the release of a new range of Virb cameras for 2015 – The Virb X and top of the line Virb XE. The form factor is much smaller than the previous Virb editions and is more in keeping with the GoPro design. It also looks like the cameras can be mounted to GoPro QR mounts which ones up a whole load of possibilities.

The Putumayo region, in southern Colombia, is full of rivers. This April 2015, we finally made a trip there. For the first pass, we decided to settle base in the town of Mocoa, strategically located near easy access rivers.
This new GoPro rear kayak mount prototype has been put together by friend of Unsponsored “Mo Ritz”. The mount is still very much in prototype but the concept has been proved.

It’s always great to see how paddlers are starting to use drones to shoot video. This one from Ryan McAvoy is well worth checking out.
Over the last two summers Todd and Brendan Wells, along with local Matt Peters have explored the depths of Ingram Creek. Ingram is one of Alaska’s finest classics, hidden beneath the peaks of Turnagain Pass on the Kenai Peninsula. When the rain falls or snow melts, this small creek turns into a playground full of great ten to fifteen foot boofs, slides, and a majestic thirty five foot waterfall. Here is the best of Ingram from 2013-2014.
Recently I acquired one of Go Pro’s new additions to their line-up, the Go Pro Hero. Breaking the trend of recent years of developing top of the range action cameras, Go Pro rather quietly announced that they were bringing this little camera as a new budget option for those of us who don’t want to pay up for the new Hero 4. And at £99, I’m really impressed with it!
The new GoPro Hero 4 was released on the 5th October 2014.

The new Hero 4 is available in two varieties the Black Edition and Silver Edition. The Hero 3+ Silver and Hero 3 White editions still form part of the range. A new lower spec Hero is also available.
The form factor of the Hero 4 remains the same as the 3 and 3+ with some slight alterations. This includes a change to the front LCD information screen that now houses the status and connection LEDs. The battery has also changed in both spec and shape!

The original GorillaPod being an outstanding product and now available in all sorts of sizes, colours, and materials to hold what ever you can throw at them or fit in with your fashion. Easy to carry, intuitive to use and outstanding performance. So what is Joby’s latest offering and how will it improve your game?
The Joby Suction Cup and Locking arm/GorillaPod arm is another suction cup to add to the current market, now I know there are quite a few knocking about, GoPro produce one, Contour produce one, you can also go on eBay and pick one up for reasonably cheap but like those annoying Sat Nav suction cups they fall off, or simply don’t have the suction to hold onto most surfaces.
