It looks like the Wavesport Prototype spotted a while back has gone into production. This follows Wavesport being taken on by Gaybo UK.
We now know it is called the Phoenix.
50TH Anniversary Splash Out – Kayak Manufacturer Gaybo Limited Celebrates Its Half-Centenary And Takes Ownership of kayak brand Wave Sport.
British kayak manufacturer Gaybo Limited (Uckfield, East Sussex, UK), marks a mile stone 50th anniversary with the announcement of the successful purchase of kayak brand Wave Sport from Confluence Outdoors (Greenville, SC, USA).
Thanks to Evan Rowbottom we’ve got some shots of Wavesports yet to be named WW kayak on whitewater.
We have some coverage from PaddleExpo 2017 over the next few days. This post will be updated with images and detail throughout the week.
30 years of the Dagger. This limited edition RPM model comes supplied with ratchet backrest goodness.
After being removed from the line up for a few years Wavesport have brought back the Project X! New colours and choice of outfitting too.
How about a Custom Wavesport Recon that has been put together to match your 1973 Jeep.
David Maughan, product designer over at Confluence has done exactly that. I personally think that this looks awesome.
Last week, Confluence Outdoor announced that as Wave Sport enters its 30th year, it is being refocused as a European brand, where it enjoys a strong, passionate and loyal following as a premium white water kayak brand.
Moving production to Europe provides greater flexibility to add depth across popular models, to support additional market segments and to provide a broader appeal to suit European requirements and tastes. This approach has already proved to be successful for Wave Sport, as showcased by the appeal of the specially tailored outfitting of the Ethos and D-Series families which was a result of the understanding and know-how gained through years of experience in Europe.
To our Wave Sport family,
It has been our honor to produce the best whitewater kayaks in the world for the last 29 years. When Chan Zwanzig started Wave Sport in 1986, he was importing one kayak from the UK, the Lazer. Fast forward a few years, Wave Sport playboats were dominating world competitions, as our creek boats were used to notch the hardest first descents. Wave Sport was on the leading edge in the ‘90s and that has continued through today.
So it is with mixed emotions we announce to you that we are transitioning production and distribution of all Wave Sport kayaks to Europe, starting in 2016. Our remaining North American inventory will be sold through our loyal retailers.
The Project X from Wavesport has been around for quite a few years having been originally released way back in 2011. The release of the new Möbius has removed the Project X from being Wavesport’s premium playboat. However quite a few retailers have stock at killer prices.
The Project X is a short freestyle kayak that is available in three different sizes – 48, 56 and 64 gallons. The first generation had Wavesport’s Core Outfitting. The outfitting in early models was good but some issues with delamination had been reported by quite a few paddlers. Wavesport quickly rectified this issue with an update in the materials and production techniques used.
Yak are delighted to announce that from 1st January 2015 Blue and White GmbH, the leading European distributor for paddle sports equipment, will be distributing the Yak brand in the German speaking area of Europe. This follows the presentation of the highly acclaimed new range of products from Yak at Paddle Expo 2014, which caused great excitement amongst the paddlers at the show.
On display were the new vibrant Whitewater, Touring and Recreational ranges, giving a taste of what to expect for the 2015 season, including a variety of buoyancy aids, cags and accessories.
The popular Whitewater kit is already available across the UK and Europe, to be followed in Spring 2015 by the release of the Touring and Recreational ranges. Blue and White will be one of the first to stock the kit in Europe. Continue reading
Over the last few weeks there has been a great deal of interest in my thoughts on the Flying Squirrel versus the Recon. I have a review underway at the moment and will be publishing it after a little bit more time on the water with the Squirrel. In the meantime here are a few very initial thoughts, comparisons and specs.
